"In This Place"
see relatedI have a dear friend. One who sometimes hurts. One who hurts like I do some times. There are times when there is no suitable answer for why the pain is what it is..... but it is none the less, maybe more, simply for the hurting of it, and the aloneness One feels during those times. That is a part of why I posted the preceeding post about friends who care enough to think of us. They are my healing, and hope. I wanted to share this. It is from a hurting time, and it says a little about that, or those feelings. The song is one I used to love to stand in front of the crowds and sing .... it told a true story, straight from my heart, though I admit it is not my song, it feels like it was written for me. Anyway sometimes singing the blues lifts the darkness, and leaves a smile. So just to show that those who hurt are not alone....... a song I still enjoy singing, and a piece I wrote that kind of fits with it......
It seems there are times when life crowds in on us. When the past and the present occupy the same space. Thoughts, memories blur our vision, and clarity is found only in expressing the culmination of feelings, and strong emotions. I remember a song by Nazareth .... "Love Hurts" reminiscent of this line of thought. We all deal with tragedy in our own ways...... but deal we must for if we hide it away it always comes back for us.......one way or another, yesterday or 20 years ago. One might say "pay me now....... or pay me later" ..... debts come due
In this place, filled with empty space.................
Damn
Damn the wind,
and damn the dreams,
and damn this life of broken things
damn this heart
and damn this mind
damn the love that's left behind
damn the hurt
and damn the stain
damn the memories in my brain
damn the blood
and damn the blade
damn the love I thought we made
damn the moon
and damn the sun
damn this world that's come undone
damn these ears
and damn these eyes
damn the stars that told me lies
damn the loneliness
and damn the night
damn the darkness, nothings right
damn your touch
and damn your kiss
damn I can't take much more of this
damn it up
and damn it all
damn the lover who takes the fall
damn the beginning
and damn the end
and to all that's between, I say damn againChris
